Hornets come to life after 40 minutes!

Despite the downpour during warm up, the game started in glorious sunshine.

Kendal immediately went on the offensive and following a kick towards the line a defensive slip gave them an easy try for a 5-0 lead after only 2 minutes on the clock.

Wigton regrouped quickly and following some exerted pressure, Wigton went ahead with a penalty shortly followed by a try and conversion all from Jonny Charters, 5-10 to Wigton after 14 minutes.

Kendal gradually gained control and two penalties under the posts just before half time gave Kendal an 11-10 lead.

The second half was a complete transformation to the first half with Kendal scoring more or less from the kick off before running riot with a further 6 further tries, five of the Kendal tries coming from their speedy South African winger Dino Nayo (If only his fight had been delayed……..)!

The massive effort shown in the first half proved difficult to sustain after the break and Kendal ran out worthy winners to continue their unbeaten record and based on Saturdays form will be a difficult team to beat.

Wigton now need to work hard this week ahead of their bottom of the table clash with Eccles at Lowmoor Road on Saturday.
