Wigton too good for Millom

Wigton made the long journey down the coast road to Millom and put in a powerful performance scoring 10 tries in the process.

With only 3 minutes on the clock, Richard Moffatt playing at fly half made a clean break before offloading to Colin Sessford to score Wigtons 1st try and an early 5 nil lead. Milloms restart was picked up by Wigton and several passes later Josh Leeson crashed through the defence for try number 2 converted by himself for a 12 nil lead.

Exactly the same thing happened again when following the restart Charles Studholme finished a great move to score try number 3, converted for a 19 nil advantage. Millom started to get into the game until on 24 minutes Marky Trow touched down for Wigton bonus point try. Wigton appeared to take their foot off the pedal and on 31 minutes, a Millom penalty was kicked to the corner where they were able to get over the line for a try to reduce the deficit to 24-5.

Following a stern talking to at half time by coach Andrew Brown, Wigton were quickly out of the blocks and stole the ball on the 10m line with John Story diving over for try number 5. A few minutes later it was try number 6 with Colin Sessford scoring his second try to increase the lead to 34-5.

Wigton were now in total control of the match and despite a brave performance from Millom who never stopped trying, Wigton scored 4 more tries through Robert Marrs, John Story, James Wilson and Charles Studholme with Richard Moffatt having taken over the kicking duties nonchalantly slotted all four conversions between the uprights to give Wigton a convincing 62-5 victory.
