The Greens had started well and after David Hanabury had kicked them ahead with a penalty they almost scored the opening try. John Story was pulled down inches short of the line.
Rochdale came back with a converted try and two penalties but before half-time Wigton reduced the arrears.
The Cumbrian forwards did really well and got up a head of steam to fashion a pushover try which was claimed by Andrew Bell. Hanabury converted.
Wigton trailed 13-10 at the break but conceded a second try early in the second-half.
Rochdale added a penalty and in the dying moments of the game the home side made a smart interception and went away to score the final try which was converted.
There’s a big weekend in prospect as the bottom four meet in crunch matches – Wigton v Carlisle and Wilmslow v Aspatria.
